Peniche is a wonderful place for a holiday.
Our holiday rentals in Peniche are thriving, the climate is fantastic and if you surf as I do, there are very few places on the planet that offer better or more consistent waves. For us Peniche is truly a little gem.
Peniche in Portugal is a wonderful place to live, work and surf. My partner and I have been here for over 10 years and there is very little likelihood of us leaving any time soon. If truth be told, we love our life here.
As a holiday destination the area provides a huge number of reasons to visit:
- Beautiful uncrowded beaches and spectacular coastline.
- Fantastic local cuisine, especially the seafood.
- Amazing year round surfing conditions, with surf spots suitable for all abilities.
- Rich local culture and history.
- Close to Lisbon and Sintra, the medieval town of Obidos and only an hour from the airport.
- Great summer climate.
- Very affordable.
- A huge choice of holiday rentals in Peniche and Baleal.
Today we are going to take a closer look at your accommodation options, if and when you decide to visit this wonderful part of the world. Above all we want to help find somewhere that is right for you.
Holiday Rentals in Peniche and Baleal.
Firstly, I must point out, that the choices for the visiting tourist to Peniche, used to be pretty bad. My partner and I initially decided to move here and set up Silvercoast Apartments, based upon our poor experiences when renting in Peniche ourselves. We noticed a massive opportunity for comfortable, modern and fairly priced holiday rentals in Peniche. Above all, we observed a real lack of customer service and attention to the little details that matter.
Back in 2008, Peniche was a bit like the wild west. Pricing was opportunistic, properties were often in a terrible condition or poorly equipped. Basically you were playing the lottery whenever you booked somewhere. Things have certainly improved in the years since. The emergence of internet booking sites and Peniche’s rapid rise in popularity has resulted in a massively improved marketplace.
Lots of choice!
Most importantly, quality of both accommodation and service has improved beyond measure. So too has the choice. New corporate hotels have been built, smaller boutique hotels have also appeared. In addition the number and quality of hostels has also increased.
The finest example of a local hostel here in Peniche is Peniche Surf Lodge. Clean, modern, well equipped and in a great location near the ocean. Most importantly rates start at as little as 15 euros per night.
Hostels or hotels not your thing? That’s fine. A house or apartment, preferably with a pool, maybe even a Jacuzzi, is definitely more up my street. There is huge selection available in Peniche and its surrounding areas. Surf Atlantic offers very modern, well designed accommodation with the added bonus of a hot tub. Location is fantastic and prices as low as 90 euros a night, for a 3 bedroom house. When it comes to customer service, you will have difficulty finding better.
Lastly, it would make no sense for me to write an article about holiday rentals in Peniche and not mention my own.
Whilst not strictly in Peniche, Silvercoast Apartments is only a 5 minute drive away. Located in the lovely village of Sao Bernardino, close to a beautiful beach and some of the best surf breaks in the region. 2 bedroom apartments with swimming pool, Jacuzzi and a gym start for as little as 40 euros per night in the off season. What more could you ask for?
Jump on a flight and join us for a wonderful holiday.
